Oncology, in the USA, awarded two other Italian researchers

Marta Schirippa and Caterina Fontanella have been awarded by the Congress of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (Asco) in Chicago for their studies on colon cancer and breast cancer, considered among the “best in the world”.

Schirippa, who studied for a period at the University of Southern California and is specializing in the University of Pisa, has been awarded for a study on the Inos gene which is involved in the immune system and can have a predictive role in colon cancer.

Fontanella, who is specializing in the Udine Hospital after eighteen months at the German Breast Group in Frankfurt, received the Merit Award for a prognostic research on breast cancer recurrences. The Asco 2016 Congress marks a great recognition for Italian research in oncology.

The cancer research and in particular colon cancer and breast cancer are topics of great interest for Innova Onlus, which was founded in order to support medical research in an innovative and supportive way.
